Bathroom Makeover Finished!!!!

Even though we live in an apartment, I told Ed that I absolutely could not deal with the outdated ugliness that were our 2 bathrooms. Without the consent of the landlord (naughty, naughty!), we transformed our little master bathroom on a tiny budget of $300.
Since we expect to live here for about 2 more years, I see nothing wrong with beautifying an ugly, uninspiring space.
This is what we started with (below):

I could not....um...could not....work with this! With a little help from Gripper by glidden, some sandpaper and some glossy black paint, this little bathroom, well, no adjectives needed. It's a given. Sorry landlords! You don't like it, you can lump it!
We kept the original countertop. It is formica but for an apartment, it will do just fine.
Ed ripped off the formica backsplash and installed white carrara marble 2x2s.
pretty, clean and fresh! I love it. We used Wickham Gray (B.M.) paint. When I first put it on the wall, it looked gray...gray. I wasn't sure. As it dried it started to take on more of a Robin's Egg Blue, which looks sooo pretty.
HAPPINESS! One step closer to feeling like an apartment is actually a HOME.

  2. Jenah,
The bathroom looks so lovely now. I really like the black doors, and the marble is just beautiful. A little paint can do wonders. The small mirror above makes the room more cozy. You did a fabulous job.

  3. You spent only $300? That sounds amazing! It was a good idea to focus on one area where you'll make a change, and make it the focal point of your space. Black and white will always create a sense of elegance. Good choice, Jenah!
